WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Western New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference play and for Senior Day at J. Tec White Field and were swept in the series 9-0 and 2-0.
In game one, the Golden Bears (24-11, 9-5) scored six runs in the top of the first inning for an early 6-0 lead. They scored one run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. They held the Fighting Scots (17-13, 8-5 CCC) to four hits and forced them to strand five runners on base.
Garrett Poole pitched 5.2 innings and recorded three strikeouts.
In game two, Western New England scored both of their runs in the top of the fourth as Ben Lacroix hit an RBI single to score Alex Loparco and Jared Rosenblatt hit an RBI single to score Erik Lacaire. In the bottom of the seventh,
Erik Gauer was walked with one out to put the tying run up to the plate. The Golden Bears sealed the win by forcing a fly out and striking out the next batter.
Joe Pedulla pitched a complete game and recorded 13 fly outs, three ground outs, and four strikeouts.
Gordon will next travel to play Salve Regina in their last CCC regular season doubleheader April 30 at 2 p.m.
