Scots Finish Third at Inaugural CCC Championship

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Gordon's women's track team competed at the inaugural Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship hosted by Roger Williams and finished third with 104 points.

Roger Williams won the invitational with 191 points.

Amanda Page won the pole vault as she cleared the bar at 2.28 meters. Maddie St. Julien won the long jump with a leap of 4.91 meters and Hannah Johnson finished ninth with a jump of 4.56 meters. St. Julien placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 10.64 meters that qualified her for the New England Championships. She also finished second in the 100 meters in 13.59 and fourth in the 200 meters in a personal-best 28.06. The 4x100-meter relay team placed second in 52.55 while the 4x400-meter relay team finished fourth in 4:27.93.

Angie Epplett led the Fighting Scots in the 3000 meters with a second-place finish in a career-best of 10:49.78. Kayla Kroning finished third in the event in 11:15.19, Louisa Dodds placed sixth in 11:24.12, and Julia Drewicke finished ninth in 11:58.49. Shineika Fareus placed second in the 800 meters in 2:27.21, Katherine Jesson finished fourth in 2:30.61, and Carissa Casey placed ninth in 2:51.48. Dodds also placed third in the 1500 meters in 5:06.61 with Epplett finishing fourth in 5:07.51 and Drewicke placing eighth in 5:21.59. Mackenzie Hinds finished fourth in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 30.49 meters and fourth in the triple jump with a career-best leap of 10.25 meters.

Johnson also placed sixth in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 1.48 meters. Kroning finished sixth in the 5000 meters in 19:41.18. Fareus also placed sixth in the 200 meters in 28.88. Hinds led Gordon in the 400 meters with a seventh-place finish in 1:05.28 and Rachel Farah finished ninth in 1:06.93. Sinead Miller placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.51 and Page finished ninth in 1:17.70. Amanda Poulin placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 25.48 meters while Hinds finished tenth with a toss of 23.05 meters. Miller also placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.65 and Ariana Stanberry finished ninth in 18.71. Mikaela Fleenor placed tenth in the 100 meters in 14.59. Page also finished 12th in the shot put with a toss of 8.07 meters.

The Fighting Scots will next compete at the New England Championships hosted by MIT May 5.
