WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Emerson in non-conference play at J. Tec White Field and recorded five hits in its 3-1 loss.
The Lions (6-11) got on the board first in the top of the third inning with RBI singles by Ryan McCahan and Joe Cuccio. The teams combined to leave nine runners on base in the next four innings. Emerson added another run in the top of the eighth as John Gabert scored off an error by the catcher. The Fighting Scots (7-9) got one runner on base in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to drive them in to set them up with one more chance in the ninth inning.
Christian Hodge was walked to start off the bottom of the ninth. He advanced to second on wild pitch.
Travis Benoit struck out swinging to put one out up on the board.
John Lagerfeldt then hit a single to drive in Hodge. The next two Gordon batters struck out to seal the win for the Lions.
Lagerfeldt went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Addison Tarr batted 1-for-2 with one walk a career-high two stolen bases. Hodge went 1-for-2 with two walks and one run.
Mark Gadaleta started the game and struck out two batters in two innings.
Drew McCormack struck out a career-high five batters in two innings of relief.
Tarr now has a career-high seven stolen bases this season. Lagerfeldt has 11 RBIs on the season after driving in 10 runs last year as a freshman.
The Fighting Scots will travel to play Curry for a CCC doubleheader April 7 at 12 p.m.
