STANDISH, Maine — Gordon traveled to play Saint Joseph's College of Maine in non-conference action at the SJC Athletics Complex and attempted four shots in its 7-0 loss.
The Monks (4-0) scored three goals in the first half with two of them coming in the first 12 minutes of action. The Fighting Scots (2-4) put two shots on goal in the 24
th minute with one being saved by Megan Baker and the other one being stopped with a defensive save by Morgan Dalton. Saint Joseph's held them without a shot the rest of the half to make it a 3-0 game at halftime.
In the second half, the Monks attempted 15 shots and scored four more goals. Gordon put up two more shots with
Paige Blake's shot in the 54
th minute being saved by Baker and
Amanda Poulin's shot in the 62
nd minute was blocked. Saint Joseph's did not allow a shot the rest of the way to seal the victory.
Julia Altman recorded eight saves in the first half and
Jasmine Rosa recorded a career-high five saves as they faced 31 shots in total.
The Fighting Scots next travel to take on Endicott in their CCC opener Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. The Gulls won both matchups against Gordon last season.
