BEVERLY, Mass. — Gordon traveled to play Endicott in its Commonwealth Coast Conference opener at North Field and attempted six shots in its 8-0 loss.
The Gulls (4-1, 1-0 CCC) got started quickly on offense as they scored five goals in the first ten minutes of action. They held the Fighting Scots (2-5, 0-1 CCC) to four shots in the first half.
Emma Ellsworth's shot in the 26
th minute was on goal, but it was saved by Taylor Farrin. Endicott added another goal in the 33
rd minute to make it a 5-0 game. Gordon had another scoring opportunity in the 34
th minute as the Gulls committed a foul in the circle to set up a penalty corner for
Sabrina Jandreau in the 34
th minute. That led to a shot by
Megan Gordon, but it went wide of the net right at the end of the half.
In the second half, Endicott added two more goals with one in the 40
th minute by Blake Braman and one in the 55
th minute by Sydney Poulin. Gordon was held to two shots in the half with Jandreau's shot being blocked in the 36
th minute and
Caroline Conte's shot going wide in the 58
th minute.
Julia Altman recorded ten saves while
Jasmine Rosa stopped two shots as they combined to face 38 shots.
Briana Kowolenko also recorded her third defensive save of the season.
The Fighting Scots next travel to play Nichols in CCC play Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. Gordon split the season series with the Bison last season with a 4-3 win at home and a 2-0 loss on the road.
