WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Springfield in non-conference action at the Brigham Athletic Complex and recorded 12 saves in its 1-0 loss.
The first half was even offensively as both teams attempted six shots. The Pride (5-2) put four shots on goal while the Fighting Scots put one on goal.
Jarvin Ramirez's shot in the 13
th minute was stopped by Stewart Frank. Springfield had two shots on goal in a three-minute span that were both saved by
Wesley Sprague. Stefan Richardson's shot with 45 seconds remaining in the half was stopped by Sprague to keep the game tied at 0-0 entering halftime.
In the second half, Brad Deckel was fouled in the goalie box in the 52
nd minute to set up a penalty kick. Deckel converted the kick to the left side to put the Pride up 1-0. Springfield kept up the pressure on offense as they attempted nine more shots and held Gordon to four shots the rest of the game.
Tyler Modzeleski's shot in the 61
st minute was the only one on goal and was stopped by Frank.
Sprague recorded a career-high 12 saves.
Stephen Heintz recorded a defensive save in the 56
th minute.
The Fighting Scots next travel to play Lesley in non-conference play Sept. 22 at 5 p.m.
