WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Roger Williams in its Commonwealth Coast Conference opener at the Bennett Center and recorded 56 digs in its 3-0 loss.
The Hawks (7-4, 1-0 CCC) won the first set 25-18 as they recorded 13 kills and a .290 hitting percentage.
Mackenzie Hinds tallied five kills in the set for the Fighting Scots (7-6, 0-1 CCC).
Amanda Snyder and
Jamie Tafoya recorded three kills each.
Ashlyn Gergins dished out 11 assists in the set.
Roger Williams took the second set 25-23 with 15 kills and a match-high .297 hitting percentage.
Marla Batson and Snyder each recorded three kills in the set. Hinds tallied two kills, four digs, and one block assist.
Jenny Curtiss recorded four digs in the set.
The Hawks closed out the match by winning the third set 25-23 as they recorded a match-high 17 kills. Snyder led Gordon with six kills and also had four digs. Gergins recorded ten assists and eight digs. Jesse Nason and Hinds both tallied four digs in the
set.
Sndyer finished the match with 12 kills, eight digs, and two aces. Hinds recorded ten digs and nine kills. Gergins recorded a double-double with 30 assists and a team-high 13 digs. Curtiss tallied double-digit digs for the fifth match in row.
Hinds has now recorded at least 100 kills and 100 digs in four consecutive seasons.
The Fighting Scots next travel to take on CCC opponent Salve Regina Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. Â
