WALTHAM, Mass. — Gordon played against Brandeis in its third game of the Brandeis Invitational at Auerbach Arena and recorded 32 kills in its 3-1 loss.
The Fighting Scots (5-3) won the first set 25-21 over the Judges (4-2). Gordon started the set with a 12-4 run for an eight-point lead. Brandeis tied the game at 15-15 with a 11-3 run. The Fighting Scots closed out the set with a 10-6 run to win the set.
The Judges won the second set 25-13 as they recorded a match-high .450 hitting percentage. They started the set with an 8-3 run before Gordon closed the gap to three points with a 6-4 run. Brandeis responded by scoring seven straight points and 12 out of the next 16 points to take the set.
In the third set, Brandeis recorded a match-high 13 kills to take the set 25-20. The teams started off the set by trading points until they were tied at 5-5. The Judges led by as much as eight points and were up 22-15 when the Fighting Scots scored four out of the next five points to cut the lead to four points. Brandeis scored three straight points to win the set.
The Judges won the fourth set 25-11 to win the match. They recorded six kills and two aces in the set.
Amanda Snyder led the team with nine kills and also had seven digs.
Mackenzie Hinds recorded ten digs, eight kills, and two aces.
Ashlyn Gergins dished out 17 assists.
Jenny Curtiss had a team-high 14 digs and also had five assists.
Gordon next travels to take on Simmons in non-conference play Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
