In a non-conference matchup this afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Field Hockey was bested by the visiting Saint Joseph's College Monks by a score of 3-1.

How It Happened

• The Monks put pressure on the Scot defense early and often as the visitors pulled off four penalty corners in the opening frame. On their final corner of the quarter, Sophia Jacques (So./Peru, Maine) knocked in a pass from teammate Alexandra Belaire (Jr./Greene, Maine) to give the Monks a 1-0 edge. 
• In the 19th minute, Belaire again found Jacques who scored her second of the contest, extending SJC's lead to two goals.
• Gordon cut the lead in half four minutes later as Cara Goudie laced a line drive shot through the Monk's defense and into the back of the net for her 12th goal of the season. 
• Coming out of halftime not satisfied with their slim lead, SJC's Jacques netted her third of the game to widen the gap again to two goals and secure the eventual 3-1 victory over the Scots.

• The Scots jump back into conference play on Wednesday, October 16 as they travel to Western New England to take on the Golden Bears at 4 p.m.
