Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Adamez, Goudie’s Late Heroics Lift Scots Over Golden Bears, 3-2

Gordon College Field Hockey booked a riveting 3-2 overtime win over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) host Western New England University today, netting the game-tying goal with just 60 seconds left in regulation and following with the golden goal winner in the 64th minute.

How It Happened
  • In the 3rd minute of action, the Fighting Scots' Natalie Adamez faked out her defender before striking the ball into the back of the net to put Gordon up by one.
  • That lead was short lived, however, as the Golden Bears tied it up just two minutes later as Jacqueline Clark (Sr./Auburn, Mass.) scored her 15th goal of the season. Despite nine straight shots from WNE, the score remained locked at one-all as Gordon keeper Julia Altman came up big with seven saves in the first frame.
  • The score remained 1-1 heading into the half as neither team was able to add another to the scoreboard.
  • WNE came out firing in the third quarter, eventually going ahead by one in the 40th minute as Emily Campbell (Fr./Goffstown, N.H.) gave WNE the 2-1 lead.
  • With only 54 ticks left in regulation, Adamez found teammate Cara Goudie who fired a shot from the left side past the Golden Bears' keeper to tie it at 2-2, forcing extra time.
  • In overtime, Gordon took advantage of an early penalty corner as Adamez again found Goudie who knocked in her second overtime game-winner of the season to give Gordon the 3-2 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • This win marks the second consecutive year that the Scots and Golden Bears have split their season-series.
  • Cara Goudie has scored in three-straight games. Her two-goal performance today is her third of the season.
  • Natalie Adamez booked a season-high four points in the win.
