Scots Takedown Hawks In CCC Thriller

Hitting the road to square off against Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Roger Williams University this evening, Gordon College Women's Volleyball dropped the first set before winning three-straight to take the 3-1 victory over the Hawks. With the win Gordon improves to 7-8 overall and 1-2 in league action while Roger Williams drops to 4-9 (1-2 CCC).

How It Happened
  • The Hawks led the Fighting Scots, 18-13 before Gordon went on a 5-1 run to cut RWU's lead to one (19-18). Jordan Shaduck's trio of kills put the Scots on top 24-22 before RWU closed out the first set on four consecutive points to secure the 26-24 win.
  • Trading points for much of the second frame, Jamie Tafoya slammed down a timely kill to take the 21-20 edge over the Hawks. RWU, however, looked as though they were going to go up two games to none as the home team quickly took a 23-21 lead forcing the Scots to call a timeout. The Scots came out of the timeout hungry going on a 3-0 run of their own to lead 24-23. Going point for point until it was 26-all, Gordon capitalized on a Hawk error to take the lead before Shaduck took an Ashlyn Gergins' assist to the ground to take the 28-26 win.
  • Tied at 1-1 heading into the third set, Gordon pulled away halfway through the set, turning a 7-7 tie into a 13-8 lead. The Scots kept the a comfortable lead until the Hawks cut the lead to two at 20-22 but the Scots scored the final three points to collect the 25-21 win and lead 2-1.
  • The Scots jumped out to an early 9-2 lead and never looked back, going on a 7-0 run to lead by 10 late in the set. Gordon eventually took the 26-16 victory and overall 3-1 win.
