Scots Triumph Over Regis, 3-1

In a Homecoming matchup against the Regis College Pride this morning, Gordon College Volleyball bested the visiting Pride, 3-1 to improve to 8-8 overall on the season.

How It Happened
  • The Fighting Scots stormed out to a 5-0 lead forcing Regis to call a quick timeout to regroup. Ashlyn Gergins kept Regis on their toes as the setter knocked down a pair of kills, giving the Scots a 9-3 lead. Gordon later went on a 4-0 run to give themselves an 11-point cushion before the Scots finished the match with a 25-16 win.
  • In the second frame, Regis tallied four straight points to go on top, 8-5 and never looked back, leading by as many as seven. Not giving up, Gordon cut the lead to one late, trailing, 22-21. The Pride, however, called a timeout and came back on the court to score three-straight to take the second set by a score of 25-21.
  • The Scots trailed in the third set until Jenny Curtiss controlled the game from behind the service line as the senior led the Scots on an 8-0 route to take a 23-18 lead. Gordon completed the comeback in the third to earn the 25-19 win to go up 2-1.
  • Regis opened up the fourth set comfortable, taking a 6-3 lead before the Scots scored six straight points to go on top 9-6. Regis had a 6-0 run of their own to close the gap to trail 18-20. However, Gordon took the eventual 25-21 victory for the 3-1 win over the Pride.
