Gordon College Men's Soccer celebrated senior night as they hosted Salve Regina University tonight in their final home game of the 2019 regular season. The Seahawks took the 4-0 victory over the Scots in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
Seniors,
Noah Craig,
Caleb Chang, and
Ben Rowe were honored prior to the start of tonight's game.
How it Happened:
- In the opening ten minutes both teams attempted to convert on a corner but fell short. It was not until the thirteenth minute of the game that Salve Regina's Evan Hilbie (Jr./Berlin, Conn.) found the back of the net off a pass from teammate Jacob Guerra (Jr./Colchester, Conn.) to break the stalemate and give his team the 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Guerra crossed the ball to Evan Macdonald (Sr./Candia,N.H.) who sacrificed his body to get the ball into the goal to give the Seahawks the two goal advantage.
- The Scots' defense denied the Seahawks attacking front by blocking three shots with goalkeeper, Brody Veelber, saving one shot to close out the half with a score of 2-0, in favor of the Seahawks.
- The Seahawks started the second half firing, getting off three shots in four minutes before they put one away when Alessandro Oggiano (So./Stoughton, Mass.) converted a corner kick serviced by Macdonald. The Seahawks scored their final goal of the game when Nathan Costantino (Fr./North Andover, Mass.) snuck one past Veebler which would lead to the eventual 4-0 victory.
The Scots have their final game of the regular season on Tuesday, October 29, as they travel to Dudley, Mass. to take on Nichols College for a 3 p.m. start.
