Gordon College Volleyball hit the road this evening traveling to Framingham State to square off against the Rams in non-conference action. The Fighting Scots grabbed the 3-1 victory to improve to 14-11 on the season.
Ashlyn Gergins led the way for the Fighting Scots with 54 assists,Â
Jacque Fitzgerald had a game-high 19 kills, while
Amanda Snyder had 12 kills and as many digs.
How It Happened
- The Scots and Rams traded points with neither team gaining a commanding lead. Framingham State went on top, 22-20, but the blue and white fought their way back to tie it at 23-all. Gordon capitalized on a pair of Ram errors to win the first set by a score of 25-23.
- The second set began almost identical to the first set, as the score remained close throughout. After being knotted at 19-19, the Rams pulled ahead by two, but just like the first set, the Scots buckled down to close out the frame on a 4-0 run to go up 2-0.Â
- The Rams led by as many as five before the Scots locked it up at 22-all in the third set. The home team edged the Scots 25-23 to force a fourth set.
- Gordon stretched their lead to seven (20-13) forcing the Rams to call a timeout. The Scots, however, did not let up as they took the set 25-14 and overall 3-1 W.Â
Beyond The Box Score
- Ashlyn Gergins broke her previous 4-set Gordon record (52 assists) as the junior dished out 54 assists in the win.Â
- Jacque Fitzgerald booked a career-high 19 kills.
- This is the eighth game this season that Amanda Snyder has registered double-digit kills and digs.
