Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Scots Breeze Past Lesley For First W Of The Season

Gordon College Men's Basketball traveled to Medford, Massachusetts to take on the Lesley University Lynx this evening. The Fighting Scots dominated the Lynx, taking home the 112-74 victory to improve to 1-1 on the young season.

Eric Demers spearheaded the offense for the Scots with 30 points, Parker Omslaer added 16 points, Garrett Sattazahn had 11 points and as many rebounds, Avelino Damoura had 14 points, and Zach Quanico added 12 points in the win.

For Lesley, Chase Howard (Jr./San Diego, Calif.) had 21 points, Kostas Tatsis (Jr./Athens, Greece) netted 18 points and grabbed eight boards, while Treyvon Trent (Sr./Virginia Beach, Va.) had eight rebounds and seven points.

How It Happened
  • Demers gave the Scots a quick 3-0 lead after sinking a jumper form three point land in the opening seconds of the game.
  • The Scots took their biggest lead of the frame after a Demers layup made it 19-5 with 13:41 remaining. The Lynx shrunk the deficit to eight, but that was the closest they'd get as Gordon went into halftime on a 28-11 run making it 54-28 in favor of Gordon.
  • With 15:34 on the clock, Damoura hit a three to give the Scots their first 30-point lead of the contest. Lesley quickly hit a three on the other side of the court, but Demers answered back with another three to keep the 30-point cushion.
  • The Scots kept a 30-plus point lead throughout the remainder of the second half en route to the 38-point win.

Beyond The Box Score
  • Avelino Damoura booked a career-high 14 points.
  • Garrett Sattazahn recorded his first career double-double.
  • Said Head Coach Tod Murphy: "This was a good overall win for us. It was a good opportunity to get everyone in the ball game. Hopefully our confidence continues to grow, because the next three games are all very difficult."
