Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bison Knock Out Scots In CCC Battle

In a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) battle that would decide the top spot in league play, Gordon College Men's Basketball put on a gritty performance but the Nichols College Bison proved to be too much for Gordon taking a 107-93 victory over the Scots. The Bison improve to 14-1 in conference while the Scots dropped to 13-2.

Garrisson Duvivier notched a game-high 34 points and 15 rebounds, Eric Demers also hit the 30-point threshold with 32 points, while Noah Szilagyi added 12 points in the effort.

For the visitors, DeAnte Bruton (Jr./New London, Conn.) and Marcos Echevarria (Sr./Lynn. Mass.) spearheaded the Bison with 27 and 26 points respectively, while Matt Morrow (So./Leicester, Mass.) booked a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

How It Happened
  • Duvivier was impactful early, scoring 11 of his squad's 14 points in the first five minutes of the game, including two picture worthy dunks.
  • After the Scots trailed 20-21, the Bison scooted out to a 29-20 lead behind a pair of three's from Echevarria and a jumper thanks to Bruton with 8:56 remaining in the first.
  • The Scots answered back again climbing back within a single point by way of the duo of Duvivier and Jake Haar with 5:34 left. Nichols scored nine unanswered points capped off by a Morrow layup to lead 40-30 with 3:25 to go in the half. It seemed like déjà vu yet again as the Scots got right back into it after a Demers three to trail 38-40 with just over two minutes on the clock. The Bison closed out the first with eight straight points to take the 48-38 edge at the half.
  • A pair of three's from Szilagyi and Demers brought the Scots within three. However, the Bison hit their shots when it mattered most, leading by as many as 14 and not letting the Scots get any closer than six points. The Scots battled till the end but Nichols grabbed the eventual 107-93 win to take the top spot in league play.
