Arthur's Five Goal Performance Leads Scots Over Vikings

Tonight Gordon College Men's Lacrosse welcomed North Shore rival Salem State to the Brigham Athletic Complex for the first home game of the 2019 season. The Fighting Scots' offense put on a show ten route to a decisive 18-2 victory over the Vikings.  

Gordon was paced on offense by Dan Arthur's five goals, Austin Early and Dawson Tozier netted three goals, respectively, and Tytus Moen had two goals and three assists. Billy Biegun scooped up 10 ground balls and Tyler Pauls caused four turnovers in the victory. 

Anthony Dalbon (Fr./Ashburnham,Mass.) and Zach Perrsson (Jr./Danvers) led the way for the Vikings scoring one goal a piece. Kyle Henry (Fr./Attleboro, Mass.) picked up seven ground balls in the loss. 

The Scots are back on the road as they take on Eastern Conn. State at 1 p.m. while the Vikings travel to Nichols College on March 5.

How it Happened
  • The Fighting Scots got hot early scoring three unanswered goals in the first quarter. 
  • Tozier netted two of his three goals in the second quarter to extend the Scots lead 6-0 with 8:58 to play in the half. Early and Moen got in on the goal parade leading by as many as eight with just under three minutes remaining. Perrsson put Salem on the board finding the back of the net for his first goal of the season. 
  • A seven goal third quarter for the Scots was spearheaded by Arthur who had three of his five goals in the frame.
  • Early found Arthur twice to put his squad up 17-1 in the fourth quarter before Nate Distasio scored an unassisted goal with 9:49 left. In the closing minute, Dalbon grabbed a pass from Zach Royal (Fr./Abington, Mass.) to add another goal for the Vikings. 
Beyond the Box
  • Dan Arthur had a career-high five goals. His previous career-high was a four goal performance against Maine Maritime in 2017. 
  • Austin Early and Dawson Tozier each recorded hat tricks on the night with three goals a piece. 
  • Jacob Hryzan had a career-high four assists.
