Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Scots Roll Past Colonels For Win Number 20

With the regular-season winding down, Gordon College Men's Basketball continued its winning ways with a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) 88-75 win over the Colonels of Curry College to improve to 20-2 overall, 12-1 in league play.

Eric Demers guided the Scots with a game-high 31 points, Garrisson Duvivier netted 24 points and half as many rebounds (12), while Parker Omslaer rounded out the top-scorers with 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Scots.

For the Colonels, RJ Hadfield (So./Warwick, R.I.) notched a team-high 20 points, Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Jr./Dorchester, Mass.) and Alex Stein (Sr./Mount Olive, N.J.) tacked on 13 apiece, while Kieran Carroll (Jr./Greenwich, Conn.) chipped in 10 points.

The Scots return to the Bennett Center this Saturday, February 9 for a 3 p.m. tip-off against Salve Regina, while Curry hits the road on the same day for a 3 p.m. tilt against Wentworth.

How It Happened
  • The Scots jumped out to an early 11-2 lead before Hadfield sunk a trio of three-pointers to cut the deficit, 13-11. Another Hadfield three gave the Colonels their first lead of the half, but Demers quickly answered back hitting a jumper to get back out in front, with 11:46 on the board.
  • An 11-point run capped off with a Noah Szilagyi three gave Gordon a 44-27 advantage with 2:36 left until the halfway point.
  • Gordon held a double-digit lead for much of the second, but Hadfield hit yet another three to bring his crew within six points with 11:25 to go in regulation. Duvivier answered back, scoring nine-straight points for the Scots to take a 14-point advantage with 6:02 remaining.
  • There was no looking back as the Scots led by as many as 16 points in the closing minutes to take the victory of the Colonels, earning their first 20 win season since 2012-2013 season.

Beyond The Box Score
  • Eric Demers recorded his third straight game with 30 or more points.
  • Tonight's win marks the 12th straight win for Gordon when the Colonels and Scots go head-to-head, with their last loss to Curry coming in January 2013.
  • Said Head Coach Tod Murphy: "Curry played really hard tonight, and we were a little bit flat, but the bottom line is we got a road conference win."
