In their first game back since playing 10 games in Florida, Gordon College Baseball fell to WPI this afternoon by a final score of 10-6 in a non-conference contest played at the New England Baseball Complex.
The Fighting Scots continue non-league play as they travel to North Shore foe, Salem State tomorrow, March 20, for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
How It Happened
- After WPI platted three runs in the bottom of the first, the Fighting Scots battled back, scoring two runs of their own in the top of the second with Matt Paulsen and Alec Willey, both coming around to score for Gordon, cutting the lead to one.
- The Engineers orchestrated a four-run inning in the fourth to take a commanding 9-2 lead. In the top of the fifth, Chris Leavitt doubled to left center and later scored to get a run back for the Scots.
- Leavitt cut the lead to four after the senior belted a three-run homer for his second hit of the day. However, that was the last of the offense for either team as WPI secured the 10-6 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
- Chris Leavitt grabbed his first homerun of the season. He also notched a season-high three RBI's.
- With a double in today's game, Alec Willey has now hit a two-bagger for the third game in a row.
