Gordon College Baseball welcomed Colby-Sawyer in a non-league contest for their 2019 home-opener where the Fighting Scots scored a season-high 12 runs in a 12-5 victory over the Chargers.

The Fighting Scots head back to the diamond tomorrow as they return to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play traveling to Western New England for a first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.

How It Happened

• In the top of the first, Colby-Sawyer platted a run before Danny McCrystal (So./Londonderry,m N.H.) knocked in two more runs to take an early 3-0 lead.
• Not to be outdone, the Scots one-upped the visitors in the bottom half of the frame, capping off a four-run inning after Christian Hodge ripped a double down the left field line to knock in Daniel Quint and Matt Paulsen to take a 4-3 edge.
• The Scots' offense stayed hot in the second as they scored four more runs to extend their lead to five.
• For the next three innings, both squads exchanged runs before Sam Schetelic hit a solo shot over the left field fence to make it a 10-5 ball game.
• Gordon tacked on two more times in the bottom of the eighth, extending their team to seven and securing the 12-5 victory. 

Beyond The Box Score

• Rookie, Sam Schetelic had a career afternoon, hitting his first collegiate home run as well as driving in three RBIs.
• Starter, Noah Henkell picked up his first win of the season.
