Golden Bears Best Scots In DH Sweep

In a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) head-to-head this afternoon at Western New England University's Trelease Park, Gordon College Baseball was stifled by the host Golden Bears by identical 13-3 scores to drop to 0-4 in league play.

Game One

  • The Fighting Scots plated three runs in the first thanks to a Christian Hodge sacrifice fly and a John Lagerfeldt double for the 3-0 lead.
  • The Golden Bears got two runs back in the bottom half of the inning, however, as well as five more runs over the course of the next two innings to establish a four-run advantage.
  • WNE added to that lead with a four-run seventh before topping off their offensive effort with a pair of runs in the eighth to secure the 10-run win.
Game Two
  • WNE hurried out to a 3-0 lead in the home half of the first and never looked back, crossing home for five more runs in the second for the hefty 8-0 advantage.
  • The Scots closed the gap in the fourth as senior Chris Leavitt belted a three-run homer to cut WNE's lead to five.
  • The Bears continued to keep their foot on the gas offensively, though, adding a run in the fifth and two each in the final two innings to take the commanding W.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Chris Leavitt booked his second home run of the season.
  • Matt Paulsen has recorded two hits in each of his last four games.
