Welcoming Lesley University to J. Tech White Field in a non-conference tilt this afternoon, the Fighting Scots used a five-run first to propel them to a 11-3 victory over the visiting Lynx.
The Scots return to the diamond tomorrow, same time same place but this time against former Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe, Eastern Nazarene in another non-league contest.
How It Happened
- Matt Paulsen began the hit parade with a double down the left field line to score Daniel Quint for the Scots' first run. After going up by two, Bradl Welch roped a single to right driving in Joseph Mack and Christian Hodge to make it a four-run Gordon lead, then Patrick Tevenan knocked in Alec Willey to cap off the five-run first.
- The Lynx got on the board in the top of the third, stringing together three hits to cut the lead to four runs. Both squads added a single run each in the fourth, to keep the four-run difference.
- Lesley cut the lead in half in the visitor half of the fifth, but Gordon quickly got that run back plus another to put the Scots up 8-3.
- A two-run homer from Hodge ran the score up to 10-3 in the sixth. The Scots added one more tally in the bottom of the eight thanks to an infield single from Josh Popovich to score Quint to solidify the eight-run victory.
Beyond The Box Score
- Rookie, Mike Oley picked up his first collegiate career win as a starter.
