Gordon College Baseball played host to non-conference foe, Eastern Nazarene today at J. Tec White Field where the visitors used 13 hits to score 10 runs en route to a 10-2 victory over the Fighting Scots.
The Fighting Scots play for the third day in a row tomorrow as they travel to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent, Endicott College with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
How It Happened
- Chris Leavitt executed a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the first to score Daniel Quint giving Gordon the early 1-0 lead.
- Gordon held the slim lead until ENC's Steven Pesce (Jr./Harrison, N.Y.) hit a solo shot over the right field fence to tie it up at 1-1. The Lions used that momentum to tally another run to double up the Scots, 2-1 to close out the inning.
- Joseph Mack wore a pitch to get himself on first and eventually scored to again make it a tie ballgame after the sixth.
- In the top of the seventh, ENC strung together four hits resulting in as many runs to lead the Scots by four.
- ENC tacked on a run in the eighth and three more in the top of the ninth to secure the 10-2 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
- Senior, Connor Rogotzke struck out two of the four batters he faced in an inning's work.
- On Saturday, April 13 Gordon College Baseball will honor their seven seniors.
