Gordon College Men's Lacrosse traveled to Milton, Massachusetts to take on Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Curry College where Colonels drove their way past the Fighting Scots to take the decisive 17-10 victory.
Nick Tozier sparked the Fighting Scots by netting three goals and dishing out an assist while scooping up five ground balls.
Austin Early chipped in with two goals and an assist.
Tyler Pauls and Billy Beigun each found the back of the net and scooped up six and five ground balls, respectively.
Kyle Ton (Jr./Norwhich, Conn.) spearheaded the charge for the Colonels scoring seven goals and dishing out two assists. Devin Newell (Sr./Medford, Mass.) chipped in with four goals, two assists and seven ground balls, Zach White (Sr./Milford, Conn.) had a game-high 14 ground balls.
How It Happened
- The Scots' offense got hot quick after back-to-back goals from Tozier and Pauls to give them the early 2-0 lead. The Colonels matched the Scots after scoring two goals for themselves to bring the game to a 2-2 standstill going into the second quarter.
- The Colonels attacked first after Ton scored one of his seven goals to give his team the one goal advantage. Moen would quickly answer for the Scots after converting a pass from Jacob Hryzan to tie the game at three goals each. Three back-to-back-to-back goals by Newell gave the Colonels a 7-4 edge with 8:29 to play in the second quarter. The Colonels put the ball in the net two more times before the quarter ended making the score at halftime 9-4.
- The Colonels tallied three goals coming out of the break before Dan Arthur put one past the goalie to give the Scots their first goal of the second half. That goal was quickly followed by a Tozier tally to cut the Curry lead to six, making it 12-6 with just under six minutes to play in the quarter.
- The Scots came out firing in the fourth quarter scoring three goals in four minutes, making the score 14-9. The Scots went onto score one more goal in the game while the Colonels scored three more times to take the 17-10 victory over the Scots.
