Brenna Otte and
Olivia McCarrick tallied four goals apiece while
Katelyn Dyer added three to pace the Fighting Scots to a 13-7 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win over host Curry College today.
Rounding out the scoring for Gordon were
Greta Moore and
Lena Larson who booked one each and
Annabel Christenson stopped eight to preserve the win for the blue and white.
For the Colonels, Abby Dubel (Jr./Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Allie Wysocki (So./Agawam, Mass.) led the effort with two goals each.
The Scots return home to host Western New England in another CCC matchup on Wednesday, April 10 at 4 p.m.
How It Happened
- After nearly nine minutes of scoreless play, Otte broke the silence off a helper from Hannah Bourk to initiate a 7-0 run for the Scots. Dubel halted the run with her first of two on the day at the 3:12 mark to make it a 7-1 game, a score that held through the end of the period.
- Looking to put themselves back in contention in the second, Curry's Taylor Gallagher (So./Rockland, Mass.) and Wysocki netted the first two of the second frame to bring the Colonels within four.
- McCarrick, Otte, and Dyer answered right back with a goal each over the next two minutes to widen the gap to seven goals.
- Following a five minute drought, Andria Torres (Fr./Milford, Conn.) netted an unassisted tally to make it 10-4, but both teams went stride-for-stride offensively with three goals each in the remaining 18 minutes leaving the Scots on top for the six-goal W.
Beyond The Box Score
- Gordon's Olivia McCarrick currently sits atop the CCC in assists (19), is second in points (55), and is in a three-way tie for second in goals (36).
- The Scots have gone undefeated against Curry since 2011 (9-0).
