Traveling to Rivier University this evening, Gordon College Women's Volleyball team was swept by the Raiders, 25-18, 25-14 and 25-21 to drop to 4-3 on the young season.

For the Fighting Scots, Ashlyn Gergins booked 22 assists, Jacque Fitzgerald had seven kills, while Jenny Curtiss had 13 digs.

The Raiders were led by Avery Pollard (So./Ballston Lake, N.Y.) who notched a game-high 37 assists and Jess Whyte (Sr./Plymouth, Mass.) who also had a game-high 16 kills.

How It Happened

• The Fighting Scots came out strong taking a 5-2 lead in the first frame. However, the momentum moved back into Rivier's favor as the Raiders soon went on top, 7-6 and never looked back winning the first set by seven.
• Heading into the second set, Rivier marched out to a 14-6 lead before the Scots went on a five-point run capped off by a kill from Jordan Shaduk to cut the lead to three. The Raiders widened the gap from there on out highlighted by a pair of kills by Sydney Racevicius (So./Woodbury, Conn.) as well as a pair of services aces from Olivia Garand (Fr./Litchfield, N.H.) to take a 2-0 lead.
• After the Raiders tied it up at 9-9 in the third, the Scots scored four straight points to lead 13-9, forcing Rivier to call a timeout. The Scots went on an 8-3 run to take a 21-12 lead. Looking to finish the game in three sets, Rivier tallied 13-unanswered points to take the eventual 25-21 win and secure the 3-0 sweep.
