In a tri-match today, hosting Bridgewater State and Wheaton College (Mass.), Gordon College Women's Volleyball defeated Bridgewater in the opening game, 3-1 before dropping a 0-3 decision to Wheaton.

The Fighting Scots hit the road on Tuesday, September 17 as they travel to Suffolk University for a 7 p.m. contest.

Gordon vs. BSU
  • The Scots came out strong, controlling the tempo against the BSU Bears highlighted by a five-point run to go on top 23-9. Macie Carroll and Jamie Tafoya slammed down the 24th and 25th point of the first set to go up 1-0.
  • Sophia Scola led the Scots to a 14-point run in the second frame with five straight aces and seven overall aces in that span to secure a 19-6 lead and eventual 25-12 victory.
  • Bridgewater was determined not to go down in straight sets, opening the third frame on a 9-0 run. With Bridgewater holding the 16-5 lead, Gordon's Kaitlin Mercado helped the Scots rally back to cut the lead to 16-10.
  • The Bears, however, were able to hold off the Scots and take a 25-17 win to force a fourth set.
  • Amanda Snyder paced the offense in the fourth set as the senior tallied five kills as well as back-to-back aces late in the set to win, 25-16, and 3-0 overall.
