Gordon College Men's Soccer traveled to Waterville, Maine this afternoon to take on the Colby College Mules and despite netting the first goal of the contest, the Mules tallied a goal late in regulation to win, 2-1. The Mules improve to 4-1 on the season while the Fighting Scots drop to 1-4-1 on the year.
How It Happened
- Gordon struck first in 27th minute on a shot from Noah Craig from the top right corner of the box to go up 1-0.Â
- After ceding the opening goal, the Mules' defense stiffened up and remained on the offensive for much of the half before Colby's Dexter Kalderon (So./Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) knotted it up at 1-1 in the 41st minute.Â
- Colby tried to take an early lead after the half but Gordon's Brody Veleber tallied his first of three saves in the half to keep the score tied.
- With less than two minutes left in regulation, Colby's Ethan Fabricant (So./Summit, N.J.) connected on a pass from teammate Aidan O'Brien (Fr./Farmington, Conn.) for the go ahead goal and eventual game-winner.
The Fighting Scots open up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday, September 21 as they travel to Wentworth for a 3 p.m. kick-off.
