Hawks Knock Off Scots In CCC Play

Traveling to Bristol, Rhode Island to open up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play today, Gordon College Field Hockey was topped by the Roger Williams Hawks, 2-0. The Fighting Scots drop to 2-4, 0-1 in CCC action, while the Hawks improve to 6-1, 2-0 in conference.

How It Happened
  • Both squads were aggressive offensively as RWU took six shots while the Scots attempted four shots in the first ten minutes of the opening quarter. In the 12th minute, the Hawks' Brooklyn Cenatiempo (So./Trumbull, Conn.) netted the first tally of the game to give the home team an early 1-0 lead.
  • Coming into the second quarter, the Scots earned two penalty corners where Cara Goudie nearly tied it up but RWU's Erin Magsamen (So./Bridgewater, N.J.) made a defensive save to keep her team on top.
  • The Hawks added to their lead shortly after halftime when Hannah Palmer (So./Essex Junction, Vt.) found an open Cenatiempo to add another on the scoreboard for RWU. The Hawks held the 2-0 lead for the remainder of the contest to secure the eventual CCC win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Gordon Keeper Julia Altman faced a season-high 11 shots while booking a season-high nine saves on the afternoon.
  • The Scots continue CCC play on Tuesday, September 24 as they host Western New England at 4 p.m.
