Goudie Scores Game-Winner Over Nichols In Double OT

In a Friday afternoon road Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest against Nichols College today, Gordon College Field Hockey bested their hosts in double overtime to take a 4-3 victory.

The Fighting Scots have a quick turnaround as they travel to Elms tomorrow for a 2 p.m. matchup.

How It Happened
  • Nichols drew first blood as Liz McKinnon (Jr./Quincy, Mass.) chipped in a shot to the right corner in the fourth minute of the game to put Nichols on top, 1-0.
  • Four minutes later, Gordon's Kieran Thompson sent in a feed to classmate Sabrina Jandreau to knot it up at 1-1 and close out the first quarter.
  • The ever-reliable Cara Goudie gave the Scots their first lead of the day after knocking in her sixth tally of the season for a 2-1 Gordon lead heading into halftime.
  • The Bison raced into the third quarter on a mission, scoring twice within a two-minute span to regain the lead, 3-2.
  • In the 44th minute, however, Jandreau found the back of the net thanks to a pass from Natalie Adamez to tie it up at three all going into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
  • Despite a 6-1 shot advantage in the fourth quarter, the Scots could not find the game-winner and were forced into winner-take-all extra time.
  • After a scoreless first OT, Megan Gordon nearly ended it for the Scots but Nichols' MacKenzie McDonald (So./Pembroke, Mass.) made an incredible defensive save to keep the game locked. Five minutes later, however, Adamez found Goudie who fired home the game-winner to notch the Scots' first CCC W of the season.
