Traveling down the road to Beverly, Massachusetts for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup tonight, Gordon College Men's Soccer was shutout by crosstown rival Endicott College, 3-0, in just their second league game of the young season.
How It Happened
- In the 33rd minute, Endicott's William Poreda (Fr./Duxbury, Mass.) struck one past a diving Wesley Sprague to put the Gulls up, 1-0. Three minutes later, Gordon's Luckson Dambo nearly tied it up, but his attempt sailed just high of the cross bar to leave the Gulls in control of the lead.
- Still holding a one-goal lead after the break, fortune struck Endicott just four minutes into the second when Evan Couchot (Sr./Mason, Ohio) converted a PK following a Scots foul in the box to stretch the Gulls' lead to two.
- Not losing their focus, the Scots earned three corner kicks within a two minute span to apply some offensive pressure, but the Gulls' defense turned away each attempt to keep Gordon off the board.
- Then, in the 55th minute, Couchot knocked in his second of the day to give his Gulls a comfortable three-goal lead they would ride to the final whistle.
Beyond The Box Score
- The Scots take a break from CCC action and travel to Wheaton College on Tuesday, October 1 for a 4 p.m. start.
