Gordon College Field Hockey traveled to Waterville, Maine this afternoon to take on Thomas College where the Terriers netted a goal in the fourth quarter to take the eventual 2-1 win over the visiting Fighting Scots.
The Scots hit the road again on Wednesday, September 11 as they visit the Colby-Sawyer Chargers for a 3 p.m. start time.
How It Happened
- With just under a minute remaining in the first quarter, Thomas' Danita Storey (Sr./Cumberland, Maine) put her team on the scoreboard thanks to a feed from teammate Haley Thebarge (Jr./Smithfield, Maine) for the first tally of the game.
- Gordon capitalized on one of two penalty corners in the second quarter as Natalie Adamez sent a pass to Cara Goudie to tie it up a 1-1 going into the break.
- In the third, Gordon keeper Julia Altman made three of her eight saves on the day to keep it knotted up at one-all going into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
- The Terriers came into the fourth quarter aggressive, taking four shots within a 90 second span and despite Altman's back-to-back-to-back stellar saves, Thomas' Allie Gregoire (Jr./Kennebunk, Maine) was able to fling a shot into the back of the net for the eventual game-winner for the Terriers.
Beyond The Box Score
- The 2-1 win for Thomas was their first of the season.
