In the final game of their southern road trip, the Fighting Scots faced the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels in men's soccer action and, despite their best efforts, were bested by their hosts, 5-1, to move to 1-2-1 overall on the season.
How It Happened
- Oglethorpe's Abraham Lopez (So./Lawrenceville, Ga.) put his team on the board in the 21st minute as the sophomore connected on his fifth goal of the young season to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Gordon's Noah Craig looked to tie it up in the 34th minute but keeper Scott Zoino (Sr./Marietta, Ga.) swatted it away to keep his team on top.
- The Petrels were able to swing the momentum back in their favor, netting two more goals to close out the half and stretch the lead to 3-0.
- Just under two minutes into the second half, Sebastian Carlson (Jr./Kennesaw, Ga.) converted on a penalty kick to make it 4-1.
- The Scots quickly answered back as Luckson Dambo fed a pass to teammate Jarvin Ramirez to put Gordon on the board.
- Oglethorpe tacked on one more goal in the 66th minute to secure the eventual 5-1 victory.
