Gulls Steal Last-Second Win Over Scots

Gordon College Men's Basketball traveled to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Endicott College tonight where the Gulls hit a pair of free throws with one second remaining in overtime to edge the Fighting Scots, 88-86. The Scots even out at 6-6 overall while the Gulls improve to 10-4.

How It Happened
  • Tied at 15-all midway through the first, the Scots pressed on to lead by as many as 10 thanks to an Avelino Damoura jumper with 5:34 remaining in the half. The Gulls went on a 7-0 run to head into the locker room trailing by three.
  • Gordon continued with the slight lead through the first five minutes of the second before both sides traded points, tying three times. Then, the Gulls went on top by seven with just under nine minutes to go in regulation.
  • The Gulls looked as though they were going to run away with it as they held a 13-point lead (6:04) but the Fighting Scots buckled down to knot it up at 72-all with 2:05 remaining.
  • With 40 ticks on the clock, the Scots had a two-point lead before the Gulls' Brown hit a layup 12 seconds later to tie it at 76-all and force overtime.
  • The Scots were called for a foul on an offensive rebound with one second left on the clock and the Gulls headed to the free throw line where Brown hit a pair to take a 78-76 edge and eventual victory.
