Seahawks Take Care Of Business At Home Against Scots

Traveling to Rhode Island today for a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest against the hosts Salve Regina Seahawks, Gordon College Men's Basketball was handed a 96-77 loss from SRU. The Fighting Scots drop to 11-12 and 6-8 in league play while the Seahawks improve to 10-13 as well as 6-8 in CCC action.

Eric Demers netted a game-high 30 points, David Massillon had a double-double with 14 points and as many rebounds, Parker Omslaer had nine points and nine boards, and Josh Crutchfield scored nine points while dishing out four assists in the effort.

Kevin Kelly (Jr./Valhalla, N.Y.)  booked 25 points and nine rebounds, Cameron Collins (Jr./Oakdale, Conn.) had 16 points, Mikey Spencer (So./Abington, Mass.) had 14 rebounds and 12 points, while Chris Peasly (So./Plainfield, Conn.) scored 12 points in the victory.

How It Happened
  • The Scots and Seahawks exchanged points int the opening minutes before SRU took a 11-point lead midway through the half. Gordon quickly cut SRU's lead to six thanks to a Crutchfield three and a Xahn Frater fastbreak layup.
  • However, the Seahawks were able to stretch their lead to a 56-34 advantage at the break.
  • Gordon continued to fight in the second half, despite being down by as many as 23 points, the Fighting Scots battled back, making it a 10-point game with just over two minutes remaining. 
  • SRU was able to extend their lead at the free throw line down the stretch, however, to secure the 96-77 win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • David Massillon had a career-high 14 rebounds and a season-high 14 points today.
  • The Scots return to the Bennett Center to host the University of New England on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m.
