Gordon College Men's Basketball hit the road for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) duel against the Western New England Golden Bears this evening in Springfield, Massachusetts. WNE racked up its highest point total of the season to defeat the Fighting Scots by a score of 126-109. With the win WNE improves to 13-8 (8-4 CCC), while the Scots even out at .500 with a 10-10 record and 5-6 record in league action.

Eric Demers led the effort with a game-high 32 points, Parker Omslaer added 19 points and 14 rebounds, Garrett Sattazahn had 17 points and seven boards, while Josh Crutchfield and Justin Yu had 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Six Golden Bears reached double figures as Alex Sikorski  (Jr./Rocky Hill, Conn.) paced his squad with 26 points, Zachary Tavitian (Jr./Milford, Conn.)
had 22 points, Tim Reilly (Sr./Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) netted 21 points, Kenny Flynn (So./Dudley, Mass.) had 20 points, Antonio Brancato (So./Fairfield, Conn.) scored 18 points, and Mike McGuire (Sr./Garden City, N.Y.) had 14 points and 12 assists.

How It Happened
  • WNE went on an 11-0 run to go on top 16-9 six minutes into the contest. The Scots battled back, however, making it a three-point game midway through the half.
  • Yu closed out the last 59 seconds of the half by scoring five points, including a three with two seconds remaining, to cut the deficit to 12 at the break.
  • The Scots came out of the locker room with the hot hand, scoring seven points in the first 60 seconds of the second half to make it 57-62.
  • The Golden Bears settled down and went up by as many as 14 before Demers went 3-3 from the free throw line with 13:36 remaining to close the gap to seven points. That was the closest the Scots would get however, as WNE secured the 126-109 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Parker Omslaer registered his fifth double double of the season.
  • Justin Yu matched (for the third time) his career-high with 11 points.
