Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Second Half Rally Boosts Scots to 3-0 Shutout Over Seahawks

Traveling to Newport, Rhode Island for tonight's contest, Gordon College Men's Soccer challenged the Seahawks of Salve Regina University (SRU) in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup. After a scoreless first half, the Fighting Scots finally broke through the Seahawks' barrier to eventually snatch another conference win with a 3-0 shutout.

How It Happened
  • The Seahawks immediately came out firing early and often, recording four shots within the first 18 minutes of play. But the Scots' stellar defense was untouchable, as they protected the net from every strike. The Fighting Scots reciprocated the attacks with seven assertive offensive attempts of their own, however it wasn't enough as the half ended scoreless.
  • After the break, both teams were determined to get on the board first with the earliest misfire shot coming from the Seahawks. After three more shot attempts from Salve Regina, Gordon answered back with a pounding shot from Chase Gwynn followed by a wide shot from Julius Swaim less than a minute later. Meanwhile, the Scots were starting to get hot as Benji Wright scattered the Seahawks to find teammate Ryan Modzeleski who ripped his shot into the back of the net to give Gordon the 1-0 lead.
  • From that moment on, the Fighting Scots never looked back. Two minutes later Casey Torres skillfully placed one behind the Seahawks' keeper to lengthen the Scots' lead, 2-0. Desiring to keep his three game goal streak going, Gwynn netted his 14th goal of the season thanks to a feed from Luckson Dambo to give the Fighting Scots a 3-0 advantage and eventually seal their third conference win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Scots are back in action on Wednesday, October 20 when they host Roger Williams for more conference play starting at 7 p.m.
