Gulls Spoil Scots Homecoming In CCC Match Up

Hosting the Endicott College Gulls this homecoming morning, the Fighting Scots put up a fight but were ultimately overcome by their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rivals 7-1. Gordon's keeper, Sophea Zaskoda, shined behind the arc recording 13 total saves in two and a third quarters of work despite constant pounding of the net, protecting the goal for all but three shots. With the loss, Gordon evens out their conference record to 1-1 while the Gulls advance to 2-0 on the season.

How It Happened
  • Both squads stepped on the field hot to trot, however the Gulls were the first to prove their dominance less than a minute after the first whistle blew taking an early lead 1-0. After four failed shot attempts, Endicott pegged their second goal of the morning at 12:35 to sharpen their edge 2-0.
  • Gordon's defense held strong after ten pounding shots from the Gulls, however Blake Braman finally found the back of the net with a one-touched, double assist. Less than 60 ticks later, the Gulls extended their lead to 4 goals heading into the break.
  • Returning from the half, the Gulls continued to control the ball collecting another 13 shots, eight of which were shut down by Zaskoda's stellar artistry. The Fighting Scots held the Gulls scoreless in the third while racking up a goal of their own from Macy Balmer who was fed by Cara Goudie to cut the deficit to 4-1.
  • However the Scots' comeback attempt wasn't enough as the Gulls went on to net three more goals to finally trump the Scots 7-1.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Macy Balmer secured her first collegiate goal as a Scot in this morning's match up.
  • The Fighting Scots continue CCC action Saturday, October 9 when they invite the Nor'easters of the University of New England to their home turf at noon.
