Nor'easters Slide Past Scots In 2-0 Win

Gordon College Field Hockey hosted the University of New England's Nor'easters for a Saturday Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) battle at Brigham Athletics Complex. The Fighting Scots' defense was tried and tested the entire 60 minutes, but only surrendered two goals to the top ranked UNE.

How It Happened
  • The Nor'easters and Fighting Scots found themselves in a strong stalemate throughout the first period, with Gordon keeper Sophea Zaskoda swatting away 10 shots before UNE's Kate Lindmark put one away in that last 30 seconds of the first to make it 1-0 UNE.
  • It was scoreless second period, with UNE maintaining control of possession throughout the 15 minutes to lead into the third period when the second goal was scored off a stroke by UNE's Jillian Lachapelle
  • After the second goal was scored, Zaskoda remained a wall on the defensive end, collecting nine saves in the final quarter for a total of 26 saves.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Sophia Zaskoda booked a career-high 26 saves in the game.
  • The Fighting Scots are back in action on Saturday, October 16 as they travel to Bristol, Rhode Island for a contest against Roger Williams.
