Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Scots Clean Up In Trimatch Sweep

Gordon College Volleyball traveled into Boston for a trimatch against their hosts and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Suffolk University as well as Fitchburg State on the Larry E Smith and Michael S Smith Court today. The Fighting Scots never dropped a set as the blue and white defeated both institutions by identical scores of 3-0.

Gordon vs. Suffolk
  • Gordon zoomed out to a 5-0 lead in the first set, but Suffolk battled back to eventually take the lead, 12-11. However, that was the last lead that the Rams would hold as Gordon regained in control to take the 25-21 victory.
  • The Rams scored first in the second set, but the Scots quickly flipped the script en route to a dominant 17-8 lead highlighted by a pair of back-to-back kills from Annie Murphy. Suffolk shrunk the deficit down the stretch but it wasn't enough as the Scots went up 2-0 after a 25-19 win.
  • After holding a 19-10 lead, Suffolk began to claw their way back into contention to make the score Gordon 21-18 Suffolk. The Rams came within two but Gordon finished off their CCC opponents and took the 3-0 victory.
Gordon vs. Fitchburg
  • It was all positive for the Scots in the first set as the blue and white recorded 16 kills and three aces to cruise to a 25-12 first set win.
  • The Scots went out to a 13-9 lead thanks to a few key freshmen kills as well as capitalizing off of Fitchburg's miscues. Gordon continued to build on their lead by taking a 19-11 lead before their eventual 25-14 victory.
  • Fitchburg went on a 4-0 run to open up the third set, but the Fighting Scots immediately battled back and took the 20-13 lead. Despite Fitchburg continually knocking at the door, Gordon kept them at bay to take the 3-0 win after a third set 25-19 victory.

  • Annie Murphy recorded a career-high 15 kills against Suffolk.
  • Maggie Rejmer tied her career-high with six kills in the second game.
  • Valerie Nilan has registered double-digit kills in 15 games this season.
