Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Gulls Edge Scots With Golden Goal

Hosting cross-town rivals Endicott College tonight at the Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Men's Soccer took the early lead before the Gulls clawed their way back to take the eventual 2-1 double overtime win over the Fighting Scots. The Scots fall to 6-4-1 and 2-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action, while the Gulls improve to 4-5-2 and 3-0-1 in league play.

How It Happened
  • In the 21st minute, Luckson Dambo raced down the left side to find teammate Chase Gwynn who ripped in his twelfth goal of the season to put Gordon on the board first.
  • The Gulls hit the equalizer just before halftime (43:30) thanks to a rocket off the foot of Matthew Cronin past a diving Brody Veleber to make it 1-all going into the break,.
  • With just under five minutes to go in regulation, Casey Torres nearly headed in the go ahead goal after a Jarvin Ramirez corner, but the shot sailed just high of the crossbar to keep the score even, forcing overtime.
  • After a scoreless first overtime and looking as though the contest would end in a tie, Endicott broke through in the 109th minute as Joe Mepham booted in the golden goal to steal the 2-1 victory over the Scots.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Chase Gwynn continues to rack up the goals this season. Gwynn's 12 goals and 27 points puts him at the top of the conference in both categories.
  • The Scots hit the road on Tuesday, October 12 as they travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on the Golden Bears of Western New England at 3:30 p.m.
