Hosting Suffolk University in their home opener this afternoon, Gordon College Baseball was able to secure a full sweep as they outscored the Rams, 17-6. The Fighting Scots pulled off a win in the first game with an explosive offensive showing in the fifth and sixth innings, locking in a 12-4 win. Another late rally and strong defense in the second game allowed the Scots to take game two as well, winning 5-2. The Fighting Scots improved their record to 2-2 this season and began Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at 2-0.

Game One
- Both the Scots and Rams held each other scoreless for two full innings until the third when senior Zack Aresty took initiative to put Suffolk on the board with a powerful base hit up the middle that resulted in three teammates crossing the plate.Â
- The Fighting Scots were not silenced as freshman Dalton Cody started a two-out rally with a single up the middle in the bottom of the third. Teammate Evan Paquette came up big under pressure when he punched a single through the left side to score both Cody and Connor Hartman, bringing the Scots to just a single run deficit. The Rams were rattled from the heat of the Scots resulting in a wild pitch that Shane Demers took advantage of, crossing the plate to tie it up at 2-2. Pat Tevenan kept the runs coming in with a single to the left side scoring Paquette and putting the Fighting Scots ahead 4-3. However, the Rams were able to stop the bleeding with a ground out to second to end the inning.Â
- The fourth inning was scoreless to both teams thanks to a flawless inning from senior Joe Pedulla who recorded his sixth strike out of the game followed by two ground outs to end the inning.Â
- The Rams fought back early in the fifth when Blase Cormier tied the game with a rocket to center scoring teammate Rich Gilbride. Although the Scots were able to shut down their momentum with three quick outs.Â
- The Fighting Scots answered back quickly when C. Hartman started the inning on fire with a single shot up the middle. Demers was a force to be reckoned with when he roped a double to right center scoring Cody, allowing the Scots to take the lead. Tevenan took advantage of a pitching change with a sacrifice fly to left field scoring C. Hartman, stretching the Scots' lead. Junior Patrick Seigh added to the rally with a hard hit double to left field bringing Demers home making the score 7-4 in favor of the Scots. Andrew Hartman soon followed his brother up with a deep sacrifice fly to left, adding another RBI in the mix.Â
- Pedulla was fired up from the help of his teammates as he retired two more Rams by way of the K in the sixth. The Fighting Scots continued to tack on runs with an RBI single from Demers. Tevenan came up big again crushing a double to deep center tallying two more RBIs before Mike Oley laced one up the middle to score Tevenan for the final run making it 12-4.Â
- With their last at bats, the Rams quickly sat down after stepping in the box with a fly out and a ground ball double play.Â
Game Two
- The Scots got on the board quickly this time as a Demers' groundout brought home Cody for the first score of the game.
- The Rams stayed silent until the third when Mark Birbiglia launched a dinger over the right field fence, bringing the game 1-1 tie. The Fighting Scots bounced back when Cody caused some ruckus resulting in an unearned run to put the Scots up 2-1.Â
- Birbiglia continued to fasten on runs for the Rams with an RBI fielder's choice bringing the score to an even 2-2.Â
- After a silent fifth inning from the Scots, Paquette took advantage of a pretty pitch with a single through the left side in the bottom of the sixth, plating another run for the Scots.Â
- The Fighting Scots continued to pound the ball with another RBI from C. Hartman in the seventh. The next inning Jaylen Coyne-Martinez came up big with a single to left field, scoring teammate Paquette to bring the Scots up 5-2.
- Gordon continued to hold the Rams to two runs for the remainder of the game, resulting in a 5-2 win for the Scots after a commanding double play to end the series. Â

- Junior Patrick Tevenan recorded a career high of four RBIs in the first contest against the Rams this afternoon.Â
- The Scots continue their conference matchup against Suffolk again when they travel in to Boston on Wednesday, March 31 for a double header with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
