Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Pilgrims Blank Scots, 3-0

Gordon College Women's Volleyball traveled to the New England College (NEC) this afternoon to face the Pilgrims for the second time this weekend. The Pilgrims continued their hot streak against the Fighting Scots today, starting off with a 25-15 win in the first set. The Fighting Scots attempted to keep the game alive after losing the second set 25-18 by forcing the third set into extra points. The Pilgrims eventually dug deep enough to secure the game, winning the last set 27-25 to ultimately triumph over the Scots 3-0. The Scots close the weekend off with a 0-2 overall record.

For the Scots, Jordan Shaduk made her presence known as she led her team with 10 kills this afternoon. She was followed up by freshman Eden Bailey who booked six kills. Senior Ashlyn Gergins collected 21 assists, while teammate Hayley Robinson recorded 15 digs.

How it Happened
  • The Scots got off to a fast start with three quick points. However, NEC answered back by tallying five unanswered points to go on top. Both sides traded points before NEC's Amber Thi's commanding attacks allowed NEC to pull away to take the first set 25-15.
  • Although the Pilgrims drew first blood in the second set, Gordon was able to keep the score close throughout until an NEC 18-15 advantage extended to a 25-18 victory to go up two sets to none.
  • In similar fashion, the Pilgrims and Scots remained tight-knit with the Pilgrims jumping out 6-2, before the Fighting Scots went on a tear going up 14-12. However, despite needing extra points to decide the winner, NEC closed it out thanks to a Shirita Wimberly kill.
