Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Scots Roar Past Lions, 3-0

Gordon College Volleyball traveled to Quincy, Massachusetts this evening to face the Lions of Eastern Nazarene College. The Fighting Scots cruised to a 3-0 victory over their hosts for their first win of the spring.

For the Scots, Ashlyn Gergins had 26 assists, eight digs and a trio of kills, Hayley Robinson booked 21 digs, Jordan Shaduk recorded 13 kills and 12 digs, and Marla Batson had 10 kills on the night.

How It Happened
  • After a back and forth first few points, the Fighting Scots began to pull away to take an 8-3 lead forcing ENC to call a timeout to break up the streak. The break in action did not stop the Scots as Gordon continued to lay it on the Lions en route to a 12-3 advantage. Gordon continued to hold a comfortable lead throughout with Jordan Shaduk putting an Ashlyn Gergins set away to double up the Lions, 24-12. ENC was able to score two more points, but Marla Batson finished the game off with a kill and 25-14 W.
  • With the scored tied at 2-2, Rebecca Majeau entered the game and served the blue and white to five unanswered points to lead 7-2. The Lions would answer back however, clawing their way back within a single point. The home team kept it close and with the score 13-12, Gordon's Hayley Robinson swayed the energy back in Gordon's favor from behind the service line. Gordon widened the gap to 18-12 before going on top, 22-13. ENC came within six points late, but it was not enough as the Scots went up 2-0 after a 25-18 victory.
  • An ace by freshman, Kate Howe gave Gordon a commanding 13-5 lead in the third frame. The Scots took advantage of a handful of ENC attack errors to take the 25-14 win and overall 3-0 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Jordan Shaduk had a career-high 13 kills.
  • Hayley Robinson also registered a career-high with 21 digs.
  • The Lions and Scots square off again tomorrow at the Bennett Center at 3 p.m.
