Scots, Leopards Split Doubleheader

Despite the rain today, Gordon College Baseball was able to play two games against the Wentworth Institute Leopards at Libby Field in Weymouth, Massachusetts. The Fighting Scots won game one by a score of 8-1 before the Leopards took the narrow 2-1 victory in game two.

Game One
  • Wentworth drew first blood in the home half of the second with a sacrifice bunt. However, the Scots broke it open in the top of the third, scoring six runs on three hits, highlighted by Josh Popovitch who sent a shot over the left field fence, scoring three to make it 6-1 in favor of Gordon.
  • The Hartman brothers had their hand in the final two runs for the Scots as Andrew Hartman reached first on an error by the catcher in the fifth to score Patrick Tevenan before Connor Hartman singled to shortstop in the top of the seventh to score Dalton Cody.
  • Joe Pedulla again went the distance for his team as the senior struck out six batters and only allowing one run.
Game Two
  • Neither side was able to cross the plate until the Leopards were able to use Dillon Koster's speed to come around the bases to score, putting Wentworth again on the board first.
  • Shane Demers tied it up in the top of the sixth with a solo shot to left.
  • It took extra innings to score another as the Leopards scored Aidan French thanks to a walk-off single through the left side off the bat of Kyle Desjardins to take game two by a score of 2-1.
