Gordon College Women's Lacrosse battled for a 20-14 victory over the Curry College Colonels at Walter M. Katz Field in Milton this afternoon.
For the Scots,
Katelyn Dyer won 10 draw controls and had seven goals,
Lena Larson had six goals and five draws,
Brenna Peterson booked eight draw controls, and
Abigail Mansfield added five goals.
How It Happened
- Curry drew first blood but the lead did not hold for long as Katelyn Dyer sent in the equalizer to tie it up at 1-1.
- Not even 60 seconds later, Alexandra Abaunza found the back of the net to take the Fighting Scots' first lead of the day.
- The Colonels and Scots went back and forth in the scoring department locking up at 4-4, then 5-5 before Gordon began to stretch and hold their edge.
- At the 9:05 mark, Dyer began a 5-0 run for the blue and white to double up their hosts, 10-5 with just under four minutes to go in the half.
- In the final three minutes until the break, each side added two more goals, bringing the score to 12-7 after the first half.
- The Colonels put up identical numbers in the second, scoring seven goals, but the Scots once again outscored them by eight to secure the 20-14 W.
