Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Gwynn Nets Two In Scots' 5-0 Win Over Rams

Gordon College Men's Soccer welcomed the Framingham State Rams to the Brigham Athletic Complex for their home-opener this afternoon. The Fighting Scots secured their first victory of the 2021 season by topping their opponents 5-0.

How It Happened
  • The Scots came out of the gates hot, as the offense put the Rams' defense under attack early and often. In the 31st minute, Gordon's Luckson Dambo curled a corner kick perfectly to teammate Chase Gwynn who headed the ball into the low corner of the net to take the 1-0 lead.
  • Not satisfied with their 1-0 lead after the break, the Fighting Scots continued to dominate offensively, with three shots within the first three and a half minutes. In the 52nd minute, Dambo came up big on a cross at the baseline from freshman Benji Wright, one-touching the ball past the Ram's keeper to make it 2-0.
  • After a scuffle in the box, George Coogan IV was fouled which resulted in a penalty kick for the blue and white. Coogan took advantage of his opportunity and finessed one in the opposite corner of the net to up the score to 3-0. The Scots continued to widen their lead less than ten minutes as Gwynn netted his second tally of the night thanks to a beautiful set up from teammate Jarvin Ramirez
  • With one minute remaining in regulation, junior Julius Swaim decided to add to the fun by powering a long ball, painting it above the Rams' keeper to bring the final score to 5-0.

Beyond The Box Score
  • This is the Scots' third win in a row against Framingham (2013, 2015, 2021)
  • Freshman Benji Wright secured his first Collegiate Career assist in tonights competition
  • The Fighting Scots are back in action Friday September 3, as they host the Wheaton Lyons at 7 p.m.
