Hitting the road this evening, Gordon College Field Hockey traveled to Plymouth, N.H. to take on the Panthers of Plymouth State. The Fighting Scots drew first blood, but were narrowly edged by their hosts, 2-1. 
 
How It Happened

• Right from the start, both squads showed impeccable defense in the first 15 minutes, allowing only one shot from each team. 
• After a scoreless first quarter, the Scots took it up a notch. Within five minutes of the second quarter, Gordon released havoc on Plymouth's net. Sophomore, Allison Mead stirred the pot with a shot on net, followed up by another two in a row from senior Cara Goudie who subsequently found the back of the net on her second shot giving the Scots a 1-0 lead.
• However, the Panthers pounced right after the Scots got on the board, tying up the game no more than two minutes later. The Fighting Scots were able to get one more shot in before the whistle blew for the half, but it wasn't enough to get past the Panthers' brick wall. 
• Entering the final quarter with a score of 1-1, the Scots tried to get ahead immediately when Caroline Bassallo hurled the first shot of the quarter to challenge the Panthers' keeper. The Panthers retaliated with a goal from sophomore Athena Comeau to give Plymouth the lead 2-1. The Fighting Scots tested the Panthers for the remainder of the match but were unable to snatch the win.

• The Scots are back in business on Saturday, September 18 when they face Nichols College in their first conference duel of the season.
