Gordon College Men's Basketball kicked off their 2022-2023 season on the road against the Emerson College Lions at the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym in Boston this evening. Despite their best efforts, the Fighting Scots fell to their hosts, 95-51.
For the Scots,
Bryce Smith and
Tyler Long led the way with 10 points each, while
Caleb Scott chipped in six points and seven rebounds.
Emerson's win was spearheaded by
Nate Martin and
James Beckwith who each had 21 points.
How It Happened
- The Lions jumped out to a hot start, but Smith and rookie Long answered back offensively early to keep it a two-point game six minutes into the first half. However, the home team got back in rhythm to widen the gap to double digits going into halftime (43-25).
- Coming out of the break, Emerson continued to fire, scoring 52 points in the second half en route to a 95-51 win over the blue and white.
Beyond The Box Score
- Tyler Long opened up his collegiate career with 10 points.
- The Fighting Scots return to the hardwood on Friday, November 11 to compete at the Nazareth Tournament in Rochester, New York.
