Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Scots Rain On Nor'easters, 87-75

Gordon College Men's Basketball hit the road this evening, traveling to Biddeford, Maine where they squared up against the Nor'easters of the University of New England (UNE). After gaining the lead in the first half, the Fighting Scots never looked back, taking the eventual 87-75 win over the Nor'easters. With the win, the Scots improve to 10-12 overall and jump to 7-10 in conference, meanwhile, UNE falls to 6-18 (5-12 conference).

Garrett Sattazahn stayed hot for the Fighting Scots, scoring a game-high 19 points in tonight's win. Not far behind him was freshman Bryce Smith with 15 points as well as dishing out seven assists, followed by classmate Treyton Tebbs who contributed 14 points in the effort.

For the Nor'easters, Avery DeBrito fronted his squad with 16 points and seven boards, just ahead of Drake Gavin who booked 15 points.

How It Happened
  • Both teams started out hot, as they each traded threes in the first 27 seconds of the duel until Sattazahn one-upped the Nor'easters with another one from downtown to take the 6-3 lead. However, UNE was able to tie it up at six before eventually going ahead 13-10. It wasn't until Gordon's Tebbs got the Scots rolling again with a jumper to retake the advantage (14-13) that the Fighting Scots would hold onto for the remainder of the half.
  • With 6:34 left in the first, Parker Omslaer continued the basket parade with a commanding dunk thanks to a feed from David Massillon to give the Scots their first double-digit lead (37-27). But the Nor'easters were able to chip away, coming within six before the buzzer sounded to end the half, 43-37.
  • Continuing their streak, UNE evened it out at 47-all after 4:36 minutes of play to open up the second. Not long after, Sattazahn fired up his team once again with one from behind the arc, catalyzing a 19-point surge for the Scots where they only allowed one basket from their hosts (66-49). The Nor'easters attempted to comeback, but the Fighting Scots commanded the court with ease, eventually taking the 87-75 win.
Beyond the Box Score
